Thursday, June 8, 2017

Harrisburg, June 8, 2017 — Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies today announced that David F. Bonsick has joined the firm as a lobbyist. He brings to the role more than 25 years of experience in the government and public affairs arenas, representing companies with a diverse range of interests, including telecommunications, technology, cannabis, organized labor, cable television, and financial services.

David will be responsible for advocacy efforts on behalf of Cozen O’Connor’s clients before the Pennsylvania General Assembly, the Pennsylvania executive branch, and various state, county and municipal agencies. In addition to legislative advocacy, he will advise Cozen O’Connor clients on procurement strategies and issue management.

“Having worked for Fortune 250 companies as well as trade associations, David’s private-sector experience allows him to view our client’s needs through a unique lens and formulate a strategy to help them achieve their public policy goals,” says Mark L. Alderman, chairman of Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies. “We know clients will find him to be an invaluable addition to our team.”

“Clients are looking for us to help them navigate state government with a single goal - to achieve the successful outcome they are seeking,” says Jim Davis, who spearheads Cozen O'Connor’s Government Relations in the Harrisburg office. “David’s legislative, political and regulatory experience provides Cozen O’Connor with another strong resource to meet the client’s ever-changing and growing needs.”

Prior to joining Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies, Bonsick was vice president at Emerald Strategies, Inc., where he represented clients across a variety of industries before Pennsylvania General Assembly and Pennsylvania Executive Branch agencies. He also coordinated grassroots advocacy and strategic communications campaigns to educate on policy initiatives and influence legislative proposals. Before joining Emerald Strategies, Bonsick was president and CEO of the Technology Council of Pennsylvania, a regional trade association.

“Having spent 25 years doing advocacy and public affairs work across Pennsylvania and New Jersey, I know the reputation of Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies is second to none,” Bonsick says. “The firm’s work in telecom, technology, and medical marijuana aligns well with my background. I look forward to advising our clients on legislative and policy initiatives in Harrisburg and across the state.”

Earlier in his career, Bonsick worked as vice president at CenturyLink, Inc., where he was responsible for the company's extensive government, regulatory and public affairs operations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He also previously served as president and CEO of the Pennsylvania Restaurant Association; director of government affairs for the Pennsylvania Rural Electric Association; and legislative liaison to U.S. Senator Arlen Specter.

Bonsick holds a B.A. in political science from Lycoming College.
