Joseph Dever and Alexander Cohen will host a fireside chat with former SEC Commissioner Troy Paredes and TRM Labs’ Chief Legal Officer Sujit Raman to discuss the pivotal issues at the forefront of SEC enforcement and regulatory law.

On December 4, 2024, President-elect Trump nominated former Commissioner Paul Atkins as the new SEC chair to succeed Gary Gensler. While Atkins awaits his confirmation by the Senate Banking Committee, President Trump has appointed SEC Commissioner Mark Uyeda to serve as acting chairman of the current three-member commission. Under Uyeda’s leadership, the SEC has issued several significant pronouncements on a wide range of issues, including crypto assets, climate disclosures, shareholder engagement, and its formal order authority. As the SEC shifts away from one of the most aggressive rulemaking and enforcement regimes in its more than 90-year history, market participants across the industry are closely monitoring what the future securities enforcement and regulatory landscape will look like over the next four years.

Topics Will Include:

  • Presidential power and a new SEC regime
  • Crypto asset regulatory approach
  • Enforcement agenda and practices
  • ESG and cybersecurity disclosure rules
  • Capital formation, private credit, and shareholder engagement
  • Off-channel communications and industry sweeps
  • Emerging technologies based on artificial intelligence

CLE is approved in PA, NY, TX, IL, NV, and CA.
