Eleven Cozen O’Connor Attorneys Recognized as Washington, D.C., Super Lawyers and Rising Stars

Seven attorneys were recognized as Super Lawyers and four were named Rising Stars, a list that recognizes attorneys under the age of 40.

Ben focuses his practice on construction law and government contracts. He represents a diverse range of government and commercial contractors, including IT and defense contractors, design builders, construction managers, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, as well as owners, insurers, and sureties. Ben advises his clients and litigates their disputes involving public bid protests, contract negotiation and interpretation, requests for equitable adjustment, delays and disruptions, performance and design defects, terminations for default, past performance, compliance, mechanic’s liens, and payment and performance bond claims.

Before he became a practicing litigator and attorney, Ben studied architecture and then served as a construction project manager for a decade, specializing in performance building envelope systems for both public and private projects, both domestic and international. His insight and subject matter expertise are unique in the construction law and government contracting practice areas. As a counselor and trial attorney, Ben leverages his experience as an estimator, project engineer, safety officer, quality control/assurance representative, project manager, and even as a litigation fact witness to successfully serve his clients’ needs and mitigate their risk.

Ben is ranked in the 2023 and 2022 editions of Chambers USA for construction. He was also recognized as a Washington, D.C. “Rising Star” for 2017-2023 in the areas of Government Contracts by Super Lawyers magazine. He was recognized in 2021, 2023, and 2024 as one of the “Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch” for Construction Law and Construction Litigation by The Best Lawyers in America.

Ben earned his bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College in art and architecture. Ben earned his law degree, cum laude, from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law.
