Marlee Sonico

Associate

Marlee represents clients in a broad range of matters, including commercial disputes, insurance defense, and fraud investigations and recovery. Marlee's diverse practice allows them to develop practical, strategic solutions tailored to clients' objectives.

Marlee has experience managing all phases of litigation, from early case assessment and strategic planning through discovery, motion practice, negotiation, and case resolution. Marlee also has experience conducting complex fraud investigations and insurance recovery efforts. Working closely with claims professionals, investigators, data analysts, and industry experts, Marlee evaluates suspected fraudulent conduct, assesses potential client exposure, and develops effective litigation and insurance recovery strategies.

Before attending law school, Marlee worked as a staff assistant and voter protection assistant for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and as an operations associate for the Democratic National Committee.

Marlee earned their J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where they served as managing editor of the Georgetown Journal of Law & Modern Critical Race Perspectives. As a student attorney in Georgetown Law's Criminal Defense & Prisoner Advocacy Clinic, Marlee represented indigent clients in D.C. Superior Court and before the U.S. Parole Commission. They remain committed to pro bono service and have represented clients in matters involving criminal record sealing, compassionate release, and criminal defense. While at Georgetown, Marlee served as internal vice president for Georgetown Law’s Asian Pacific American Law Students Association and as a mentor for underrepresented students.

Marlee graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where they earned degrees in politics (with a concentration in political theory) and in legal studies.
