Valerie focuses her litigation practice on insurance coverage and bad faith insurance claims, complex business claims, and claims against public entities. Her cases range from single-plaintiff lawsuits to large, complex, multi-party actions. With her broad experience in state and federal courts, Valerie manages all phases of litigation, from inception through trial, and appeal.
Valerie has defended companies and individuals at trial in both state and federal courts. Her trial experience includes cases involving claims of products liability (medical device, paint, glass, bottled water), illegal dumping of hazardous waste, breach of contract, insurance bad faith (first party and third party claims), insurance agency negligence, and medical malpractice, including wrongful death. Valerie has arbitrated cases involving claims against financial institutions and health care providers, and has also briefed and argued cases before the California Court of Appeals and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Prior to joining the firm, Valerie was a partner in the Los Angeles office of an international law firm. Valerie is a member of the Mexican American Bar Association, and the Hispanic National Bar Association. Valerie focuses her pro bono work on representing United States Veterans.
Valerie received her bachelor’s degree from California State University at San Bernardino. Valerie earned her law degree from Southwestern University School of Law. While in law school, she participated in the Moot Court Honors Program.
