Andy is a well-rounded litigator with a particular focus on representing railroads in matters brought under the Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA). Over the course of his career, he has represented nearly every Class I railroad in the United States, and served as national counsel for a Class I railroad entity for 20 years. In that role, Andy defended the railroad in numerous jury trials throughout its multistate system, succeeding in several notoriously difficult jurisdictions.
In addition, Andy represents a variety of clients in transportation litigation, regulatory matters, compliance issues, occupational health and safety matters, whistleblower actions, labor and employment disputes, long term care litigation, commercial matters, toxic tort litigation, products liability litigation, and other complex litigation from pre-lawsuit through appellate stages. He has litigated cases before federal, state, and regulatory tribunals throughout the country, and also handles arbitrations and mediations.
Andy is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association, the Master Builders’ Association of Western Pennsylvania, and the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel, where he served as a faculty member at its trial college. He also has addressed industry trade organizations on the Americans with Disabilities Act and a California bar association on the issue of multijurisdictional practice of law.
In his community, Andy has been a long-term member of the board of the Center for Theater Arts.
