Eddie is a commercial litigator and trial attorney who represents businesses, employers, financial institutions, and individuals in complex disputes in federal and state courts. Drawing on experience in private practice, in-house counsel, and government service, Eddie handles matters involving commercial litigation, employment disputes, business torts, consumer protection claims, product liability, warranty litigation, and high-exposure tort matters.
Eddie counsels clients through all phases of litigation, from pre-suit investigations and risk assessments through discovery, dispositive motion practice, mediation, trial, post-trial proceedings, and appeal. He works closely with clients to develop practical legal strategies that align with their business objectives while managing litigation risks and exposure.
Prior to joining private practice, Eddie served as manager and counsel of litigation for American Express, where he managed complex litigation matters nationwide and advised business leaders on consumer protection, regulatory, employment, and commercial issues. He also oversaw outside counsel, evaluated litigation risk, and helped develop nationwide litigation strategies for the company.
Before his in-house role, Eddie represented Fortune 500 companies in complex commercial, product liability, warranty, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death litigation. His experience includes managing large-scale discovery, coordinating expert witnesses, conducting and defending depositions, and preparing cases for trial.
Earlier in his career, Eddie served as an assistant state attorney in the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, where he tried more than 50 jury trials and more than 20 bench trials to verdict. Working in the Career Criminal and Robbery Unit, he handled serious felony prosecutions, developed extensive courtroom experience, and regularly appeared in evidentiary hearings, trials, and appellate proceedings.
Eddie has been recognized for his litigation accomplishments by numerous organizations, including the Miami-Dade Bar Association’s Top 40 Under 40, National Black Lawyers Top 40 Under 40, Daily Business Review’s Rising Star 40 Under 40, and Lawyers of Distinction. He is also a frequent author and speaker on litigation, business law, jury selection, consumer protection, and related legal topics.
Eddie earned his B.A., magna cum laude, from Howard University and his J.D. from Howard University School of Law, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class.
