Suzanne is a seasoned family law attorney with nearly 30 years of experience representing clients in complex domestic relations matters. She counsels individuals and families through all stages of family law disputes, including divorce proceedings, custody and parenting time matters, paternity actions, post-decree modifications, third-party custody disputes, and spousal maintenance issues. Throughout her career, Suzanne has developed a reputation for providing practical guidance, compassionate counsel, and strategic advocacy in both negotiated resolutions and contested litigation.
Suzanne has extensive courtroom experience handling high-conflict family law matters involving complicated financial issues, interstate custody disputes, and contested parenting arrangements. She regularly represents business owners and other clients with significant assets and has substantial experience identifying and tracing nonmarital property in divorce proceedings. She has successfully obtained favorable outcomes for clients in custody disputes, parenting time matters, and spousal maintenance actions, and has represented parties in mediation, arbitration, and trial.
In addition to her divorce and custody practice, Suzanne has represented clients in order for protection proceedings, guardian ad litem investigations, and third-party custody matters involving grandparents and other caregivers. She also has experience preparing clients for custody evaluations and deposing expert and fact witnesses in complex family law litigation.
Suzanne is a California Licensed Professional Fiduciary and has represented clients in fiduciary matters in addition to her family law practice. She is also the author of Marriages End: Families Don't. Divorce Wisely!, a practical guide for individuals navigating the divorce process.
Her professional accomplishments have been recognized by Minnesota Super Lawyers from 2020 through 2024, and she has been named among Minnesota's Top Women Attorneys. Suzanne is actively involved in the legal community through her membership in the Minnesota State Bar Association, Hennepin County Bar Association, Minnesota Women Lawyers, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.
Suzanne earned her J.D., cum laude, from William Mitchell College of Law and her B.A. from the University of Minnesota. She is admitted to practice in Minnesota state courts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
