Alex Barbour

Of Counsel

For over 30 years, Alex has represented management in a broad range of issues in labor and employment law. He focuses on traditional labor law matters, including practice before the National Labor Relations Board, union organizing campaigns, collective bargaining, strike and picketing matters, and labor arbitration. Alex has extensive state and federal court trial experience and has argued labor and employment cases before many U.S. Courts of Appeal.

From 1965 to 1980, Alex occupied various positions with the National Labor Relations Board in its Milwaukee and Chicago regional offices, including two years as a regional attorney and five years as a regional director in the NLRB’s Chicago office. He is a member of the Illinois, Iowa, and American Bar Associations. He is also a member of the ABA Committee on Practice and Procedure Under The National Labor Relations Act.

Alex formerly served as a member of the adjunct faculty in the graduate labor law program at Chicago-Kent College of Law. He is a chapter author of The Labor Law Handbook, IICLE (1996) as well as a chapter author of How To Take A Case Before The NLRB, published by BNA.

Alex received his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Iowa. Alex earned his law degree from the University of Iowa School of Law, where he was a member of the law review.
