Nicole Sprinzen Speaks with CBS NY About NYPD Officer Accused of Spying for China

Nicole Sprinzen was interviewed by CBS News New York on February 2, 2023, in connection with an exclusive story about a Tibet-born NYPD officer Baimadajie Angwang, who made headlines in the New York area and across the country after he had been accused of being a spy for China. Now, after federal prosecutors dropped the case, he is sharing the story about how his life was turned upside down. Nicole sat with a CBS NY reporter just days after a federal judge dismissed the indictment and spoke about the Department of Justice (DOJ) focus on prosecuting Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA) cases in recent years. She said that, as a general principle, the DOJ does not bring charges unless they believe they have sufficient evidence to do so and noted that Angwang's case could have fallen under the FARA if it was thought he did not disclose he was lobbying for Tibet.
