Beware the Anti-Gouging Trap

Thomas Casparian, a member of Cozen O'Connor’s Commercial Litigation Practice, and Susy Forbath, a regulatory and government relations professional in the firm’s Real Estate Practice, authored an article in California Mobilehome Parkowners Alliance’s publication Alliance News. The article discusses the recently enacted law AB1919, an anti-gouging bill designed to protect consumers during a declared emergency. The law makes it illegal to increase the rent of an existing or prospective tenant in a mobile home park by more than 10 percent during a state of emergency, and for 30 or more days after.
