NEW YORK, August 9, 2024 — Michael Fernández, member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Department, has been elected to the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) Board of Governors as the vice president of affiliates and associates. He will serve a one-year term. The HNBA Board of Governors formulates policy and oversees the management of the association. As the vice president of affiliates and associates, Michael will oversee the affiliate organizations, the associate organizations, and the Council of Affiliates to ensure that each advances the mission of the association. He will also periodically report on the activities and initiatives of the affiliates and associates.
Michael focuses on representing international and domestic clients in complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts, international arbitrations, and regulatory compliance matters. He is experienced in issues concerning complex jurisdictional issues and cross-border discovery matters. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, Michael has experience representing foreign and domestic companies and individuals in matters covering a broad range of industries, including cryptocurrency, commodities, construction and real estate, food and beverage, gaming, financial services, moving and storage, and oil and gas. He has also represented international clients in various investigations and proceedings before authorities in the United States.
