On May 16, 2023, Cherelle Parker, a former state representative and City Council member won the Democratic nomination for Philadelphia mayor, emerging decisively from a crowded field of contenders. If she wins the general election in November, she will become the city’s 100th mayor and the first woman to hold the job.
