PHILADELPHIA, July 1, 2022 — The American Bar Association (ABA) has appointed Gregory Fliszar and Aselle Kurmanova to leadership positions in their Health Law and Business Law sections. Fliszar has been named vice chair of Nursing & Allied Health Care and vice chair of the Health Law Policy & Coordinating Committee of the ABA’s Health Law Section. Kurmanova has been named the vice chair of the Health Law and Life Sciences Committee of the Business Law Section of the ABA. Both roles will begin on September 1, 2022 and end August 31, 2023.
Fliszar is a member of the firm’s Health Care Practice and handles a variety of health law litigation and regulatory and compliance matters for a number of different types of health care providers, including hospitals, hospices, mental health providers, and physician groups. He has significant experience with HIPAA and privacy issues and has counseled insurance company clients on understanding their obligations under the Medicare Secondary Payer Act.
Kurmanova is a member of the firm’s Health Care Practice and has broad experience in domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions transactions, such as acquisitions, divestitures, minority investments, and joint venture arrangements. She regularly represents clients across a range of industries, including health care and life sciences, asset management and financial services, real estate, and traditional industry. Most recently, Kurmanova has focused on the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on corporate transaction activities. She also provides advice on corporate governance and general corporate matters.
