WASHINGTON, D.C, February 25, 2022 — Cozen O’Connor is pleased to announce that Matthew Howell, an associate in the firm’s Transportation & Trade Group, has been appointed by the Young Lawyers Division of the American Bar Association (ABA) to serve as an adviser to the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (ULC) Study Committee on Antitrust. ULC study committees review an assigned area of law and assess the extent and nature of potential opposition or support for uniform legislation, recommend what the scope of the project should be, and assess the feasibility of legislative enactment. The Study Committee on Antitrust will examine the need for and feasibility of a uniform or model act on competition law issues, focused on monopolization and a potential update of the Uniform State Antitrust Act.

Howell focuses his practice on advising clients in the maritime and aviation industry on a wide array of regulatory matters in both the domestic and international contexts. Additionally, he advises clients across a number of industries on antitrust and other government regulatory matters, including government investigations, mergers and acquisitions, general government contracting matters, and trade export regulations. Howell has also worked with clients in securing trade export licenses from the Department of Commerce and in conjunction with Department of Treasury trade sanction regulations. His international practice includes advising liner shipping clients on global antitrust developments and investigations by foreign competition regulators.
