Lori Kalani was highlighted by law.com about her career growth. How did you “invent” a new area of practice? Working at DISH, handling that AG investigation, I recognized first that the priorities of individual AGs vary enormously from state to state and second, that AGs must be purposefully educated about the interests and challenges of the businesses they regulate. From there, it seemed obvious that I should reach out to the AGs of all 50 states to start a dialogue. It took several years of constant travel and networking, but I built both a network of connections to AGs in every state that continues to serve me to this day—and the foundations of a new legal practice.
