Cozen O’Connor Continues to Gain Traction in Real Estate with Zoning and Land Use Attorney G. Evan Pritchard

Monday, November 15, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. – November 15, 2021 – Cozen O’Connor has made another addition to its Washington, D.C., Real Estate Practice with the hiring of G. Evan Pritchard, who joins as a member. Pritchard brings extensive experience with securing zoning entitlements throughout Northern Virginia and the District. A well-known “relationship-builder,” he has developed key connections with staff and elected officials at the state and local level throughout Northern Virginia that have helped ensure numerous successful real estate development projects ranging from small developments through complex, mixed-use developments.

“Even as the pandemic seems to be winding down to some degree, there remains no shortage of interest in the real estate markets, particularly the residential space. Cozen O’Connor is incredibly lucky to have someone who has been instrumental in building relationships behind the scenes and can provide a more complete range of real estate services by growing the land use group in Northern Virginia,” said James R. Williams, co-chair of the firm’s Real Estate Practice.

Over the past 14 years, Pritchard has been instrumental in bringing some of the most exciting real estate projects in Northern Virginia to fruition. He has served as a trusted adviser for numerous clients regarding state and federal legislation and regulations that affect real estate development. He also assists clients with important and frequently contentious changes to local jurisdictions’ comprehensive plans and zoning ordinances, including the approval of the site plan for a major mixed-use redevelopment project in Arlington, Va., which included 732 multi-family units and a full-service grocery store.

Pritchard brings a rich depth of strategic experience to his position at Cozen O’Connor, having served as a distinguished litigator and trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice, Environment and Natural Resources Division, where he served as lead counsel on 25 civil cases in federal court. He also spent almost a decade at a Northern Virginia land use and development firm Walsh Colucci Lubeley & Walsh.

“We are thrilled to have someone who brings a depth of experience from both sides of the table; as a distinguished litigator, and as someone who has walked in the same shoes as our clients while serving as a developer,” said Jonathan M. Grossman, office managing partner in Washington, D.C. “This is a tremendous opportunity for our clients to benefit from having someone who is relatable and knowledgeable and whose depth of connections will be immediately beneficial for all.”

“Cozen O’Connor has an outstanding real estate practice and national reach in other practice areas such as environmental, state attorneys general, and government relations that will greatly benefit my existing clients,” said Pritchard. “I am honored to be a part of such a collaborative environment, and I look forward to working with my colleagues and current Cozen O’Connor clients wherever my experience and connections are required.”

Pritchard earned his B.A. from the University of Texas and his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law. He has been recognized by Chambers USA - Up and Coming, Real Estate: Zoning/Land Use, Northern Virginia, and by The Best Lawyers in America, Real Estate Law.
