Pittsburgh – January 14, 2020 – Cozen O’Connor continues its expansion of the firm’s Pittsburgh office with the hiring of Eckert Seamans attorneys David P. Franklin and Paul D. Steinman. Franklin joins Cozen O’Connor’s Corporate Practice as of counsel, while Steinman joins its Commercial Litigation Department as a member.
“The growth of our Pittsburgh office is a key element of our strategic plan as we continue to add to our nationally recognized Commercial Litigation and Corporate Practices,” said Michael J. Heller, Cozen O’Connor’s Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “David and Paul bring a wealth of corporate and trial experience that will benefit our clients across a range of sectors.”
Jeremy Garvey, Cozen O’Connor’s Pittsburgh Office Managing Partner added, “We are delighted to have David and Paul join the Cozen O’Connor team as we start the new year and continue to build on the firm’s presence in the region. David’s ability to run sophisticated transactions and his diverse background handling complex matters for corporate clients will be an incredible asset to the firm and our clients. Our Commercial Litigation Department will also gain additional firepower with Paul’s experience as a seasoned litigator and trial lawyer.”
As part of Steinman’s deep and broad experience, he has worked with some of the nation’s largest companies and other business entities and successfully tried cases at the state and federal level on varied issues including breach of contract, trade secret misappropriation, and non-competes. He served as vice-chair of litigation at Eckert Seamans for eight years, as well as practice group leader of the firm’s Pittsburgh Commercial Litigation Group. Previously, Steinman held a corporate counsel role for a Fortune 500 company.
“Cozen O’Connor’s reputation as a one of the country’s most successful litigation firms was a significant draw for me,” said Steinman. “I’m excited to be joining the rapidly growing Pittsburgh office and working with a team of some of the top litigators handling the most sophisticated and complex business litigation.”
Steinman earned his J.D. from Duke University School of Law and his B.A. from Haverford College.
Franklin’s most recent corporate work has involved counseling privately held and publicly owned companies across a wide range of sectors and matters, including acquisitions, dispositions and mergers, strategic alliances, employment issues, and complex commercial contracts. His experience also includes handling many high-profile deals in the sports and entertainment field.
“I am looking forward to joining Cozen O’Connor’s team of highly experienced and sophisticated practitioners,” said Franklin. “The firm was a natural fit for me given my deep connections handling matters for organizations in Pennsylvania and, more broadly, at a national level.”
Franklin received his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and his B.A. from University of Richmond.
