CHICAGO – June 12, 2020 – Chicago attorney Christopher Hennessy, a member of Cozen O’Connor’s Litigation Department, has been named co-chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Litigation, Employment & Labor Relations Law Committee for the 2020-21 bar year. He previously served as the committee’s newsletter editor.
The ABA Section of Litigation, Employment & Labor Relations Law Committee is one of the nation’s primary resources for all labor and employment related litigation. The substantive areas covered by the committee include employment discrimination, whistleblower claims, restrictive covenant litigation, employment torts, e-discovery, and other types of claims.
At Cozen O’Connor, Hennessy focuses his practice on litigation, where he has counseled and assisted businesses across numerous industries, including claims by employers and employees. He helps his clients with risk management and conflict avoidance and works with them to understand their businesses from the inside-out.
Hennessy has helped clients with ERISA claims brought by union pension and welfare funds alleging improper or insufficient contributions under multi-employer plans and defended employers from wage grievances brought pursuant to collective bargaining agreements. He has assisted clients in several different industries with drafting employment agreements and has successfully pursued the employer’s rights under such agreements.
In addition to co-authoring two chapters in a treatise on Illinois construction law, Hennessy is a published author on non-compete agreements and employee vs. independent contractor classifications.
Hennessy earned his law degree from The John Marshall Law School in 1996 (J.D., cum laude) and his B.S. degree from Northern Illinois University in 1991. A native of Park Ridge, Hennessy graduated from Maine South High School in 1985.
