Debra Friedman was quoted in the Philadelphia Business Journal discussing how businesses should handle a potential coronavirus outbreak. Sick workers should remain home, and companies should also ask their clients and business partners to not send employees who are sick to meetings, said Debra. “All employers have a duty to provide a workplace free from hazard,” Friedman said. Businesses should also determine methods to track hours and overtime for remote work, she said. Friedman also suggests companies designate a point person in-house with whom employees can come to with their concerns regarding the coronavirus and relay confidential medical information. In any emergency, businesses should advise their employees on how it will communicate in the case of a business disruption, she said. Companies should also prepare for an increased number of employee absences and determine which business functions are critical to continue in the event of a disruption.
