Fact Checking the NYC Public Advocate Debate

Ken Fisher discusses the accuracy of statements made by candidates during the first debate for New York City Public Advocate special election in City & State New York. In response to former NYC Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito's statement that the State of New York has more control over the beleaguered New York City Housing Authority than New York City, Ken, a former Council Member, agreed that legally the state has more control, but practically, the federal government makes decisions. “It’s he who has the gold who makes the rule,” Ken said. “In this case, it’s HUD and Congress, not the City Council or the state Legislature.”
