Developers Say D.C. Comp Plan Changes Won't Do Enough to Beat Back Frequent Legal Challenges

Meridith Moldenhauer comments on the newly released amendments to D.C’s comprehensive plan in an article in the Washington Business Journal. The amendments are receiving mixed reviews from District developers, especially those that lay out broad policy goals and zoning standards officials use to guide development across the city. Developers are particularly frustrated with the language surrounding the city’s density and height standards.

“It would be clearer and less ambiguous to just remove the story limitation to allow the Zoning Commission to evaluate each project on its own,” said Meridith. “A lot of cases have come down to what level of height or stories are appropriate.”
