Lawdragon/HRE names Joseph Tilson, A. Martin Wickliff, Jr., Anna Wermuth, and Jeremy Glenn Among the Nation’s Top Labor & Employment Lawyers

(June 16, 2018) Four members of Cozen O’Connor’s Labor & Employment Department have been named to the 2018 Lawdragon/Human Resource Executive (HRE) magazine’s top Labor & Employment lists. 

  • Joseph Tilson (Chicago) was named, for the eighth year in a row, to the nation’s “Top 100 Most Powerful Employment Lawyers” list.
  • A. Martin Wickliff, Jr. (Houston) was named to the “Nation’s Most Powerful Employment Attorneys’ Hall of Fame.”
  • Anna Wermuth (Chicago) was named for the second year in a row, to the “Top 20 Traditional Labor & Employment Attorneys” list.  
  • Jeremy Glenn (Chicago) was named for the second year in a row as an “Up & Comer” in Employment Law.      

These annually produced lists pair Lawdragon, a Los Angeles-based network for lawyers and clients, and HRE in presenting the nation’s leading labor and employment defense lawyers. The attorneys on the list were selected from submissions of more than 5,000 labor & employment lawyers by clients and peers. The complete listings for 2018 can be viewed here.  

Joseph Tilson

As co-chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Labor & Employment Department, Tilson’s practice entails representing employers in large-scale employment litigation and labor arbitrations. In the past 30 years, Tilson has tried more than 150 jury and non-jury cases before the full range of courts, administrative agencies, and labor arbitrators. He is nationally known for his knowledge and success in handling large, wage and hour class action cases, but also has vast experience in collective bargaining involving large and complex bargaining units. Tilson is the chair-elect of the American Bar Association’s Labor & Employment Law Section and will become chair in August 2018. He has been recognized as one of the nation’s top labor and employment lawyers, including being named the Chicago Employment Law “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers in 2011, 2014, 2017, and 2018 and has consistently achieved a Tier 1 ranking from Chambers USA.

A. Martin Wickliff, Jr.

Wickliff is a member of Cozen O’Connor’s Labor & Employment Department in the Houston office. His representation of management includes advice and counsel, trials, appeals, and administrative proceedings involving all types of discrimination matters (single and multiple plaintiff cases, as well as class actions), retaliation claims, layoffs and reduction-in-force, non-compete and non-disclosure/nonsolicitation disputes, trade secrets, unfair competition, Sarbanes-Oxley and other whistle-blower actions, defamation, privacy claims, FMLA, and WARN, as well as wage and hour litigation (collective actions and multiple plaintiff lawsuits). Wickliff is a former director of the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors and a member of the Houston Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Wickliff has been recognized as one of the nation’s top labor and employment lawyers, including being named as one of “The 25 Greatest Texas Lawyers of the Past Quarter-Century” by Texas Lawyer and “Top 100 in Texas” by Texas Super Lawyers and Texas Monthly and has consistently achieved a Tier 1 ranking from Chambers USA.  

Anna Wermuth

As vice chair of the firm’s national Labor & Employment Department and co-chair of its Higher Education Industry Group, Wermuth represents management in labor and employment litigation before state and federal courts and administrative agencies such as the EEOC, the Department of Labor, and the National Labor Relations Board. She is recognized for her work representing colleges and universities in union organizing campaigns, collective bargaining, and faculty litigation. Wermuth was recently named one of the “Most Influential Women Lawyers” by Crain’s Chicago Business and a “Woman Making an Impact in the Law” by The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. She is recognized by Chambers USA, Super Lawyers, and Leading Lawyers. In addition, she is an active member of the ABA’s Labor & Employment Law Section, where she has held several leadership positions.     

Jeremy Glenn

Glenn is a member of Cozen O’Connor’s Labor & Employment Department in the Chicago office. He represents companies in labor and employment litigation, including class action wage and hour/overtime disputes, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation claims, non-compete agreement cases, and federal agency investigations by EEOC, DOL, and OFCCP.  He has been the chief spokesperson in collective bargaining negotiations with labor unions and tried dozens of arbitrations and NLRB cases. Glenn co-chairs the Federal Labor Standards Legislation Committee of the American Bar Association and frequently speaks on employment law topics to a national audience. Glenn received the 2018 Client Choice Award from Lexology and the International Law Office (ILO) in the Illinois Employment and Benefits Law field and has been named a Leading Lawyer in Illinois.
