MINNEAPOLIS – November 5, 2018 – Cozen O’Connor welcomes veteran IP attorney Vadim Braginsky, a former electrical engineer with nearly two decades of combined industry and IP legal experience in the development and protection of advanced technologies, to its Minneapolis office. Braginsky’s track record includes serving a diverse range of tech clients — from startups to Fortune 50 enterprises — in the industrial and scientific instrumentation, wireless communications, software, computer architecture and information security, mobile device and Internet-of-Things, and medical device sectors.
A registered patent attorney admitted to practice in Minnesota state and federal courts and in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Braginsky joins the firm’s nationally recognized IP practice as Counsel. He comes to the firm from Schwegman Lundberg & Woessner P.A., where he was a senior attorney in that firm’s IP practice.

In addition to drafting and/or prosecuting U.S./international patent applications, Braginsky provides strategic guidance on a range of other IP issues, including clearance, infringement, joint-development, licensing, and IP monetization. He also counsels clients on patent litigation-related issues, including offensive and defensive case development/strategies and litigation risk management.
“Minnesota clients want and need a more business-focused counsel to address increasingly complex IP transactions that encompass a range of other practice areas,” Braginsky says. “In addition to patent concerns, today’s businesses must also consider IP-related antitrust, taxation, international trade issues, negotiated agreements, and litigation matters. Prior to becoming an attorney, Braginsky was a senior engineer at Emerson Process Management’s Minnesota-based Rosemount Flow Division, where he led and executed projects involving electronic and mechanical hardware design for various industrial instrumentation applications.
As an attorney, Braginsky has managed cases involving technology-implemented business methods, neuromodulation therapy devices and techniques, RF-based sensing for implantable devices, cryptography, LTE and WiFi radio-access networks, virtual/augmented reality headsets, and predictive and context-responsive user interfaces.
He earned his J.D. at Mitchell Hamline School of Law and his B.S. in electrical engineering at the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology.
Braginsky represents the seventh attorney to sign-on to Cozen O’Connor’s IP practice in the past four months. In October the firm added first-chair IP litigator Thomas J. Fisher to its Washington D.C. office, patent attorney Jeremy M. Dukmen to its Seattle office, and Carl Wischhusen, a patent prosecutor, to its New York office.
In August two IP attorneys from Seattle’s Seed IP Law Group LLP, Frank Abramonte and Lorraine Linford, joined the Seattle office, making it Cozen O’Connor’s fifth largest with over 30 attorneys. In July Susan Grueneberg — one of California’s best known and highly regarded franchise law attorneys — joined the IP Department, residing in the firm’s Los Angeles office.
