Cozen O’Connor member Joseph A. Gerber was elected as a trustee of the Chubb Foundation. He recently completed a three-year term as chairman of the foundation, which provides college scholarships for deserving students.
An attorney with Cozen O’Connor for more than 30 years, Gerber’s experience includes the representation of individuals, corporations and insurance companies in a wide variety of civil litigation matters. He is chair of the firm’s client relations activities and co-chairs the crisis response and management practice.
Actively involved in the leadership of a number of professional and community organizations, Gerber is chairman of the board (emeritus) of the Insurance Society of Philadelphia, executive secretary of the National Forum for Property Loss Professionals and a trustee of the Jewish Family and Children’s Agency, where he serves as chair of its Human Resources Committee. As an associate member of the Loss Executives Association, he is the recipient of two President’s Awards for service. He received the Cronin Award from the Loss Executives Association in 2006 for promoting professional and ethical development of the claims profession. In 2005, he received the Franklin Award from the Philadelphia chapter of the CPCU Society for outstanding lifetime achievements and contributions to the insurance industry in the Delaware Valley and in 2001 he received the Whelan Award for Excellence in Professional Education.
Gerber earned his undergraduate degree from Albright College (A.B., 1966) and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center (J.D., 1969).
