Managing Your Employee Relations
In 1883, Barney Kroger invested his life savings of $372 to open a grocery store in downtown Cincinnati. The Kroger Co. is now one of the nation’s largest retailers, reporting annual sales of more than $90 billion. Since 1987, attorneys now at Cozen O’Connor have served as outside labor and employment litigation counsel. They handle some of Kroger’s high-stakes Title VII and other employment litigation and advise on Equal Employment Opportunity Commission enforcement actions, union organizing and potential work stoppages, National Labor Relations Board proceedings, and labor and employment best practices. According to Kroger, Cozen O’Connor’s labor team is exceptional for the depth of its knowledge of the retail business, ability to resolve matters quickly with minimal acrimony, and willingness to forgo a quick buck for the sake of the long-term client relationship. It is that commitment to a set of shared goals that has enabled this business partnership to flourish for more than two decades.
