CHICAGO, April 21, 2022 — The American College of Bankruptcy (ACB) has named to its Board of Regents Chicago attorney Brian Shaw, a member of Cozen O’Connor’s Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Restructuring practice.  

The ACB Board of Regents is responsible for the nomination and selection of qualified candidates to fellowship in the college. Shaw, a longtime fellow of ACB, will serve as one of 15 Board of Regents members, representing the Seventh Circuit for a three-year term.        

Shaw focuses his practice on financial restructuring, bankruptcy, and other in- and out-of-court distressed solutions, along with attendant litigation, representing debtors, creditors, and other parties-in-interest in proceedings throughout the country. He has guided Chapter 11 debtors, Chapter 7 and 11 trustees, creditors’ and noteholders’ committees, assignees, landlords, liquidating trustees, labor organizations, preference and fraudulent conveyance defendants, receivers, and secured and unsecured creditors through all aspects of bankruptcy, insolvency, and restructuring.

Shaw has served as president of the American Bankruptcy Institute and has also chaired the Chicago Bar Association’s Bankruptcy and Reorganization Section.

He has earned accolades from Chambers USA, Super Lawyers (Top 100 in Illinois), Best Lawyers in America, and Lawdragon (Top 500 Bankruptcy). Shaw is also a regular contributor to Law360 on bankruptcy issues.    

He received his law degree, magna cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law and his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Tufts University.
