Robert Magovern, a member of the firm's Transportation & Trade Practice, participated on a panel before the United Nations in Geneva, as part of a series of meetings before the UN's Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Competition Law and Policy. The panel was focused on issues faced by developing countries in competition and regulation in the maritime transport sector. Bob spoke to delegates from over 100 countries about the state of competition in the ocean shipping industry and the key benefits of ocean carriers' participation in cooperative arrangements that are often exempted by national competition laws. Others on the panel included competition regulators from the EU, Hong Kong, and Brazil.
