Thomas Wilkinson, a member of Cozen O'Connor's Litigation practice, will be speaking at this event in Philadelphia. The text of the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct now defines professional misconduct to include harassment and discrimination on a wide range of bases. Is this a long-overdue response to a serious problem in the profession or a regulatory overreach that gives too much power to bar disciplinary authorities and presents First Amendment concerns? Is the Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board's proposal on this topic, which would link misconduct findings to violations of anti-discrimination statutes, a wise compromise or an abdication of responsibility? "Legal Ethics, Harassment and Discrimination: The Role of the Rules" tackles these questions and more in a panel discussion hosted by Villanova Law's The David F. and Constance B. Girard-diCarlo Center for Ethics, Integrity and Compliance. This program is approved for 2 ethics CLE credits by the Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education Board.

Panelists include:

  • Josh Blackman, Associate Professor of Law, South Texas College of Law

  • Doris Brogan, Professor of Law, Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law

  • Jennifer Segal Coatsworth, Associate, Margolis Edelstein

  • Thomas G. Wilkinson Jr., Attorney, Cozen O'Connor
